At Desenio Group, a Swedish e-commerce success story, we are passionate about interior decor and design! Our business idea is simple: on-trend, attractive wall decor should be available to everyone. Since our inception, we’ve experienced steady growth and can now boast web shops available in more than 30 countries, with new markets opening continuously. At Desenio and Poster Store, you’ll find a wide selection of posters and mounting solutions, such as poster hangers and clips - often inspired by Scandinavian style.

In 2020 Desenio acquired Poster Store, creating Desenio Group and bolstering the company’s presence in the US and Asia. With 250 employees and SEK 1.3 billion (±$153 million) in 2020 revenue, the company has a thriving global presence, with more than 75% of 2020 sales occurring outside the Nordic region. To further grow the Desenio and Poster Store presence in the US, we are now hiring a US General Manager. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual who wants to drive the US presence of an established high-growth ecommerce design company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The US GM will be our first US hire and will be responsible for building, framing, leading and growing our US business. This will include establishing our first office outside of Stockholm, ideally East Coast USA.

In order to carry out Desenio Group’s mission in the US (making beautiful art accessible to everyone), your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Building, motivating, coaching and leading a high performing team aligned with Desenio Group’s values and culture.
  • Full P&L responsibility for the US market, ensuring the region is tracking according to Budget.
  • Sourcing and managing relationships with the appropriate logistic partners:  shipping, warehouse, freight carriers and customs. You will develop quality-control programs to define resources, standards and metrics, ensuring no disruption throughout the manufacturing and the supply chain cycle.
  • Developing and executing online marketing strategies, tailored and localised for the US market.
  • Ensuring that all strategies and operations are tailored to the US market, taking into account US customer preferences and regulations.
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to establish trust and drive productivity improvements.
  • Working closely with all internal departments in Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Reporting on US Expansion progress to the Board of Directors, as required.
  • Various ad-hoc tasks in line with your role and the US expansion.

WHAT SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Establishing and growing an ecommerce business in the US requires an experienced, hands-on generalist who is able to grasp all areas of business and is not afraid to roll-up their sleeves.

More specifically, the following statements hold true for the ideal candidate:

  • You have a proven track record of establishing and/or running an ecommerce business (or another fast-paced, consumer facing business) in the US.
  • You have a proven and successful track record of building high-performing teams and your values are aligned with that of Desenio Group.
  • You are very familiar with the US market and know the ins and outs of successful strategies and operations.
  • You have a general understanding of US legal regulations, financial analysis, marketing strategies, external agreements, partnerships with stakeholders and logistics.
  • You most likely held one of the following recent roles: Managing Director, Head of Operations, Head of Marketing, CEO, COO and/or CMO. You have a general understanding of how a successful e-commerce business operates and what functions are crucial for scalable expansion.
  • It is a plus if you have an MBA and/or MSc in Engineering/Business administration or similar.

AS A PERSON YOU ARE

  • A self-starter and a doer. You have a strong vision and are willing to be hands-on and stay true to our Group mission: to create beautiful homes through affordable wall art.
  • Fearless and performance driven. You are a natural leader, can prioritize for short and long-term success, and are a self-aware decision maker.
  • Value-driven, communicative and cooperative. You are a people’s person and able to lead, coach and inspire in line with Desenio Group’s values of being passionate, dedicated and friendly.
